Odemira: Municipality with 63,1 million euros of budget for 2024.


The Odemira City Council approved the Budget for 2024 not value of €63,100,000.00, foreseeing a key year for the implementation of the perspectives and priorities that were considered for the current mandate.

These focus on investments in the road network, housing, education, urban rehabilitation, culture/heritage and creative industries, encouraging participation and improving quality of life.

The Budget and Major Plan Options for the year 2024 they were aproved, majority, at the City Council meeting held on 23 November (with 5 votes in favor of the PS and 2 votes against the CDU) and approved, majority, at the Municipal Assembly session held on 7 of December (with 20 votes in favor of PS, 8 votes against the CDU, 1 CDU abstention, 2 abstentions from the Coalition Together Fulfill Odemira PPD/PSD-CDS/PP, 1 abstention from the Left Bloc and 1 abstention from the Liberal Initiative).

The municipal budget of Odemira de 2024 represents a significant increase in relation to the budget of 2023 (in the order of 11,2 million), fundamentally linked to revenues from direct transfers from the State budget, of transfers associated with structural funds (PT2020 values, the incorporation of new financing associated with PT2030 and PRR values ​​to finance investments to be made in housing).

This is the largest municipal budget ever in Odemira and one of the largest in the entire Alentejo and means a structural change in the budgetary dimension of the City Council, as well as the consolidation of Odemira as one of the municipalities with a medium structure in Portugal, in terms of direct transfers from the state budget to local authorities (whether current and/or capital).

For the Mayor of Odemira, Helder Warrior, the year 2024 represents “that all dimensions of the Odemira 21_25 program must be runningâ€. to the mayor, despite the uncertainties that persist in the face of the dynamics of the territory, where the strong constraints on water supply for agriculture stand out, as well as military conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Gaza Strip, all the efforts of the current Executive “have been focused on implementing local public policies based on what was approved by voters, thus guaranteeing more democratic truth. This third year of office, it will correspond to the time where we focus our efforts on putting into practice the policy proposals that were defined in the Odemira 21_25 governance program and that have already had their preparation time during previous years.â€
