With a view to creating conditions for active and healthy aging to be a reality accessible to all, the Municipality of Odemira is, from 2024, the USO framework entity – Senior University of Odemira.
The senior university is a socio-educational response, which aims to create and dynamize, regularly, on an informal basis, a series of activities in a lifelong training context.
USO aims to promote active aging, positive and healthy through participation in social activities, cultural, scientific, sports, convivial, digital and leisure training. It is a project created to occupy the free time of individuals who feel motivated to constantly learn different subjects., theoretical and practical, along with socializing.
The USO operates in several municipal spaces: auditorium of the Municipal Library of Odemira, Music yard, Municipal Swimming Pools and in a room provided by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Odemira. With a thematic universe as vast as the Sciences of Things, Manual Arts, Water Activities, theater, Music, Computing, Languages ​​and others, Classes are aimed at all interested parties over the age of 50 years with a desire to learn and live together.
