Odemira: Municipality handed out Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards 2022.

The FACECO - Fair of Cultural and Economic Activities of the Municipality of Odemira played host to the delivery of the Prize Entrepreneurial Spirit 2022.

This is an initiative that falls within the scope of the “Odemira Empreende – Municipal Programme for Entrepreneurship and Employment ".

The program "Odemira undertakes" aims to promote economic development and territorial cohesion, through various measures and actions to streamline and boost the business sector, with a view to attracting new investments, job creation and qualification of the business.

The 6th edition of the Espírito Empreendedor Award had a total of 9 applications, the big winners in the New Business Initiatives category were Carpentry “The Carpentry Club” (that creates luxury handicrafts using wood from the municipalities of Odemira and Monchique as raw material), who came in 1st place and received the prize worth 2000,00 €, the grocery store “O Cantinho da Xana” (in Odemira, that prioritizes products from local suppliers and bulk sales), who received the 2nd place and the prize in the amount of 1000,00 €, and the local accommodation “Breathe In Guest House” (in Zambujeira do Mar, with an ecologically responsible positioning), who won the 3rd place received the prize in the amount of 500,00 €.

In the Entrepreneurial and Creative Ideas category, two ideas were awarded: 1st place was the idea “Humiverse” (to create stations for transforming organic waste into organic correctives, accompanied by consulting), by Pedro Santos and Rafael Crisóstomo, who received €1,200.00, and the 2nd place was the idea “SW Portugal On Bike” (that intends to make electric bicycles available in the coastal area), by João Alfeirão, who received the amount of €800.00.

In addition to financial support, the Odemira undertakes program encompasses the Entrepreneur Workshop (including the Office of Support to Entrepreneurs, Nest Enterprises and Service Theme), reducing local taxes, support for the establishment of companies, tax incentives and the implementation of the Entrepreneurship Award.
