Odemira: Municipality receives European volunteers for one year.
The county of Odemira is receiving from the day 7 September to one year, six young European volunteers, on application of the Municipality of Odemira to Erasmus + Youth in Action Project / European Voluntary Service. The project costs about 61 thousand euros.
For the project "Odemira in Europe" the municipality has a partnership with several local organizations for the integration of volunteers, namely GAIA Alentejo / St. Louis Transition Group, Recreational society Colense, Odemira you - Cultural and Artistic Association of Mira, ADMIRA - Association for the Development of the Region Mira, Sports Cultural and Recreational Association of Brunheiras D and Humanitarian Association. Ana Pacheco, as well as other entities of countries like Italy, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Poland and Sweden.
The partner organizations developed an action plan, for the period 12 months, in which volunteers can develop new personal and professional skills, have contact with our culture and people in non-formal education assumption.
The National Agency, entity in Portugal is responsible for program management, It approved the application Odemira, thus has the funding of € 60,949.02, to bear the costs provided by volunteers, which will develop their actions in partner organizations.
The European Voluntary Service (ALL), proposed by the European Commission within the Erasmus + / Youth in Action, allows young people aged between 17 and 30 years express their personal commitment through voluntary service does not renumbered, full time, for a period of 12 months, in another country inside or outside the European Union.
Young volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to the daily work of organizations dealing with information and policies for youth, personal and socio-economic development of young people, civic participation, social assistance, inclusion of disadvantaged, ambient, non-formal education programs, ICT and media literacy, culture and creativity, development cooperation, etc.
This project also includes sending, in 2016, odemirenses of young people to Europe, so that they also have the opportunity to acquire and bring international experience, that can enrich their professional future and personal.
