There are four proposals most voted by citizens in the edition of 2023 of the Participatory Budget of the Municipality of Odemira, in the most attended edition over the years 13 years of this process, where the population presents and votes on municipal investment proposals worth the maximum global value of 300 thousand euros.
The winning proposals are “Milfontes AcessĂvel”, “Multipurpose Space in RelĂquias”, “A School for All!” and “Requalification of the Luzianes-Gare Social Center”. The winning projects will be included in the Municipal Budget of 2024.
The winners were announced on 29 November, in Quintal da MĂşsica, with the Presence of the Mayor of Odemira, Helder Warrior, and several citizens responsible for proposals put to vote, at a time of celebration of participatory democracy.
The proposals being voted on, of a material and immaterial nature and with the maximum value of 75 thousand euros each, focused on cultural projects, educational, sports, environmental and civil protection, as well as the improvement of public spaces. With a view to territorial cohesion, the OP standards of the Municipality of Odemira guarantee the implementation of at least one project in a parish in the municipality with less than 1500 population, among the most voted proposals. Voting took place between the days 20 September and 20 October, simultaneously for the Municipal PB and for the Parish PB and all citizens aged from 14 year old, residents, workers or students in the county. There were recorded 3870 voters, who chose between the 23 proposals for the Municipal OP.
The PB is an instrument of participatory democracy where citizens make decisions about the territory, sharing responsibilities in its management according to common objectives. Invigorated since 2011, It is the oldest and most uninterrupted participatory process in the country, now in its 13th edition, based on the strategy of the Municipality of Odemira to enhance public participation, through positive and constructive factors, based on proximity principles, transparency and opportunity.
