Charin Khokkhunthod, a citizen of Thailand, of 41 year old, resident in Samouco-Montijo, it was yesterday (Tuesday) condemned, in legal height, to a sentence of seven years in prison, for selling YABA pills, a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, a very powerful and addictive drug.
The defendant was also sentenced to the accessory penalty of expulsion from the national territory after fulfilling the punishment and the prohibition of returning to Portugal in the 7 next years.
The Collective of Judges considered all the facts contained in the conviction as proven and considered the explanations of the defendant on trial to be “irrelevant”.. Charin was sentenced to 6 years in prison for a crime of trafficking and other illicit activities, 1 year for illegal possession of a weapon and two convictions for driving a vehicle without a legal license, a 6 months and another of 9 months.
The individual had been in Portugal since 5 November 2019, with a residence permit that was valid until 30 June 2022, his profession was to be a clam catcher on his own in the Tagus Estuary, but that was nothing more than a cover to hide from the authorities the illicit activity that he carried out in São Teotónio, county of Odemira
In February 2021 Charin Khokkhunthod had already been arrested in possession of 250 YABA tablets, having been re-arrested, in 11 March 2022. At this point, the GNR apprehended the individual 2.830 YABA tablets, which in that Asian country means “crazy medicine”, having beyond the narcotic, been confiscated 663,07 euro cash, a melee weapon, two precision scales, 109 blister bags for packing tablets and other articles used in drug trafficking, a glass pipe, twelve lighters and the vehicle in which it was transported.
To the defendant who will remain in custody at the Beja Prison, until the judgment becomes final, some goods will be returned, among them a car, that didn't belong to you.
