“Operation Mirror”: Public prosecutor requests arrest for 12 of 20 defendants in the Cuba case.

The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) of the Cuban Court, requested temporary arrest for twelve of the twenty defendants, 14 men and six women, of “Operation Mirror” carried out by the Judiciary Police (PJ) last Tuesday.

The news is being advanced by Telefonia do Sul (TdS), local radio based in Évora, which states that among the twelve defendants for whom the most serious coercive measure was requested “are the two detained accountants”.

Lidador Notícias found that the two women have offices in Cuba and Ferreira do Alentejo, two of the county seats where “Operation Mirror” had the greatest impact, which Vidigueira joined.

The delegations of the MP Prosecutor and lawyers took place this Friday morning and from 3pm at the Beja Court the coercive measures will be announced.

Yesterday, only five of the twenty defendants, two women and three men, made statements before a Criminal Investigation Judge (JIC) the Court of Beja.

After interrogation, the six women were transported to the Prison Establishment (EP) of Tires and the men, distributed into two groups of seven each, by EP’s by Beja and Elvas.

In addition to the process that has been divided by the Courts of Cuba and Beja, the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) de Évora is also the holder of another case involving eight defendants.

As happened on Tuesday in Cuba and yesterday in Beja, this afternoon more than three dozen people are expected, family and workers, linked to detainees, who will demonstrate against the detention of the defendants demanding their release because, in his understanding “they did not mistreat anyone, helped everyone. We were out of work, Without help, with nothing”, guaranteeing on the posters that “we are not slaves” or “we have never been deceived”.
