Opinion (José Lúcio / Columnist): The fire at the city gates.
These days we live we had the fire at the city gates. A week of riots, with destruction in cars and buses, recycling containers and bins on fire, disorders in the suburban outskirts of Lisbon Setúbal.

What matters most to say in this regard?

Broken misconceptions (and the level of institutions everyone knows what are the misconceptions, and what is the origin and purpose of political opportunism in progress) matter that draw the appropriate lessons.
Calmly but firmly, it is necessary that the responsible honor their responsibilities, and ensure police forces all means, all the support and all the authority they need. When I say I think primarily responsible for the political appointees with direct or indirect powers in this area, but also all those who are institutionally linked to the defense of tranquility and public peace.
