Opinion: The other RASI (Homeland Security Annual Report).

The Homeland Security Annual Report (Perhaps) Secretary General of the responsibility of the Internal Security System, bringing together the crime data of the Security Forces and Services, is produced during the 1st quarter of every year and always released in the first days of April.
So every year around this time all written and spoken OCS lead to public knowledge, the results of its analysis to the RASI, always putting the emphasis on the number of crimes recorded by the police and are mentioned in the first chapter, always giving special attention to crimes that increased.
In RASI released last week, for the year 2014, the news could not be better, verifying that the crime was reported to the police, continued to decrease, facto verified from 2008, at which time the highest number of crimes, have been recorded the lowest crime rates since the beginning of this century.
But in spite of the CST only give prominence to a greater or lesser number of crimes, the RASI is more than a criminal data repository, lying on the second chapter of RASI, a subchapter on the "Prevention", where in some 50 pages is made known all the work done by the police in the prevention of crime.
In this part of RASI describes all the activities of the police under the "Special Programs", the RASI called "Prevention Programs and Policing". Regardless of the name should be noted that in the prevention, both GNR and the PSP develop thousands of information and awareness actions, having as target audience the most vulnerable, as children, the elderly, traders and victims of crime, a working pro-action, only under the Safe School Program, developed 19.409 Actions, in 8.746 schools and covering 1.818.535 students.
Without wanting to bore readers with more numbers and because we know that most people know that the work that has been done by the police, either in the context of the aforementioned program "Safe School", either of the "Seniors safe" or "Safe Trade" were thousands actions undertaken, these and other programs that are possibly not aware of the public, but closer to the RASI reading can enlighten the reader as to the multitude of existing programs, getting a more comprehensive notion of the same, thing that others should also make.
All these programs are aimed to reduce crime, betting in the visible and near, where the creation of projects and initiatives, targeting the most vulnerable population, has been instrumental in the results now registered.
So we believe that crime levels recorded last year are also the result of hundreds of GNR military work and the PSP, that exclusively work with great professionalism, much beyond what is required of them.
This is of greater justice to recognize, the excellent safety levels reached in 2014 are undoubtedly, also result from the work of police, in the prevention of crime, but instead fires, in winter that prevents, security, prevention is done every day, not being a unique Forces and Security Services, but the responsibility of all of us.
