The President of the Southern Regional Council of the Ordem dos Médicos will meet with doctors from the Alentejo region, Tuesday, day 27 of September, according to the following program:
09:30h Hospital Litoral Alentejano, Santiago de Cacem, 12:30h José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital, Beja, 14:30h UCSP Beja and 15:30h USF Alfa Beja
The Order of Doctors (IF) yesterday challenged the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS) to visit hospitals in the interior, in particular those from Alentejo, to know the “reality” and give “autonomy” to these units.
The responsable, who spoke to journalists in Portalegre, after a meeting with doctors who work at the hospital in that city, warned that the Alentejo “is a very vast region” and must have solutions that adapt to the problems related to demography and aging populations.
Regarding the establishment of doctors in the interior and in particular in the hospital of Portalegre, the president of the Southern Regional Council of the Ordem dos Médicos recalled that that hospital unit “has often presented some deficiencies”, but it has a group of “very committed” professionals.
