The Municipality of Ourique will maintain the tradition of Cante das Janeiras to Reis and Menino, in the coming days 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 January 2021.
This is an initiative that, in compliance with DGS standards, will tour the county, with the performance of José Diogo Bento and Pedro Mestre.
At a time of hope for the start of vaccination against Covid-19 and maintaining the commitment to individual and community health due to the persistence of the risk of contagion, the cultural initiative, inscribed in the traditions of Ourique, also symbolizes the desire for the progressive resumption of activity in 2021, safely and with respect for the basic rules of self-protection: mask use, social distancing, respiratory etiquette and frequent hand washing/disinfection.
The “Janeiras Cante aos Reis e ao Menino†will be at Monday, 4 January of 2021, at 6:30 pm at the Church of Grandaços, by 21h00, at the Church of Santa Luzia; to Tuesday, 5 January, 19h00, at the Garvão Church, by 21h00, in the Funcheira Chapel; to Thursday, 7 January, 18h00, at the Church of Panóias, 19h00, at the Church of the Conception; to Friday, 8 January, 18h00, at the Church of Santana da Serra, by 19h30, at the Palheiros Village Church; and not Saturday, 9 January, by 21h00, José Diogo Bento, Master Pedro, Gonçalo Narciso and Telmo Narciso, perform at the New Year's Concert, at Cineteatro Sousa Telles, in Ourique.
The initiative is also an impulse to support cultural creators who in 2020 were subject to strong limitations in the development of their activities to support the traditions of Baixo Alentejo and in the projection of their talent, with new approaches in different creative expressions.
