Ourique: Screening A2, makes two dead and three wounded.


A boy, of 12 year old, is a woman, of 70 year old, died yesterday (Thursday) following the screening of a passenger car on the A2, in Ourique node / Castro Verde.

The accident occurred at about 17,00 hours, at km 178, direction south / north, na A2, via connecting the Algarve to Lisbon. The highway was closed in both directions to the 19,00 hours, landing two INEM helicopters were finally not used, since severe casualties, eventually they die on the spot.

The car was driven by Isabel Cristina Rodrigues, 50 year old, traveling with parents, Norberto Rodrigues, 79 years and Maria Angelina Rodrigues, 79 years and two children, Carolina Mota, 20 years and Afonso Rodrigues da Mota, 12 year old. Grandmother and grandson, not next day 28 August was 13 year old, were the casualties of violent screening.

Given the very serious situation of two of the victims, the INEM helicopters were mobilized parked in Évora and Faro, which were eventually demobilized since the victims died on the spot.

The A2 was closed in both directions for two hours, after opening in the north / south direction after the take-off of air assets and 20,20 hours on both tracks in the opposite direction.

The injured were transported to the Emergency Department of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja, and fatalities to the Medico-Legal Office of the same unit.

On site were 51 operational, supported by 17 vehicles and 2 helicopters, of Ourique Fire, Almodovar and Castro Verde, VMER, INEM, GNR e Brisa.
