Ourique: IV Home Sausage Contest returns to the Alentejo Pork Fair in 2025.


The Fair Pork Alentejo, that takes place in Ourique de 21 a 23 March 2025, again includes the IV Home Sausage Contest, initiative that values ​​the artisanal production of this traditional sauce.

Or contest, promoted by the Municipality of Ourique and the Association of Alentejo Pork Breeders (ACPA), It intends to distinguish the best homemade sausage, highlighting the technique and knowledge transmitted between generations.

The assessment will be made by the panel of sausage tasters from southern Portugal and the panel of hams of hams and pork palettes with qualified name, guaranteeing strict criteria in the selection of the winners.

Homemade manufacturers who produce healed sausages can compete, being excluded products from commercial establishments. Each participant may present a single sample, that should have a minimum weight of 300 grams and be composed of at least two whole and intact units.

Registrations take place until 17 March 2025, should be formalized through e -mail to ouriquecpa@cm-ourique.pt or in person in the Information and Communication Office of the Ourique City Council. Samples should be delivered until 18 March, at the same site.

The evaluation will take place on the day 22 March, in a place to designate, under a blind test system to ensure impartiality. The results will be announced on 23 March, on the main stage of the Alentejo Pig Fair.
