The Ourique City Council approved it with the votes in favor of the Socialist Party and the votes against by the Social Democratic Party, the Municipal Budget for 2025.
This budget, with a total value of 21.335.300 euros, reflects a strong commitment to improving the living conditions of residents, the valorization of the territory and the implementation of important structuring projects.
The strategic budget plan for 2025 is aligned with five fundamental objectives: A better equipped municipality, empowered and decentralized; Promotion of economic and social development; Improving quality of life; Redevelopment of public space and the environment; Strengthening the municipality’s resilience and security.
Focusing on sustainability and financial balance, the budget stands out for its social support for children, young, families and senior population, as well as investment in the local economy and the rural world. Among the structuring projects, four emblematic works take center stage and demonstrate the municipality’s commitment to sustainable development:
- Ourique Business Center
The Business Center will be an essential infrastructure to boost the local and regional economy. The project envisages the creation of a modern and multifunctional space, aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and companies, promoting job creation and innovation. Total investment: 2.465.000 €. This strategic project places Ourique at the forefront of encouraging entrepreneurship, offering the necessary conditions to attract and support new businesses.
- Affordable Housing
Affordable housing is a priority for the municipality, which integrates this work into its Local Housing Strategy. Interventions cover the adaptation of buildings and the requalification of neighborhoods, promoting decent housing solutions for families, in total 6.575.000 euros. Main Interventions: Rosal neighborhood: Rehabilitation contract accompanied by inspection. Contract to adapt the building on Rua Sacadura Cabral: Conversion of five social housing. Contract to adapt the old Social Security building and contract for other buildings for housing. These actions respond to a growing need for affordable housing, strengthening social cohesion in the municipality.
- Garvão Health Extension
Improving proximity services is one of the pillars of the budget. The health extension in Garvão will be installed in the old kindergarten, now requalified for this purpose. Total investment: 360.000 €. This infrastructure will significantly improve access to health services in the locality, providing greater comfort and quality of life to residents.
- Requalification of EB1 and JI of Santana da Serra
Education is a priority area in the budget of 2025. The requalification of EB1 in Santana da Serra aims to offer a more modern and suitable environment for the learning process. Total investment: 408.000 €. This work reflects the municipality’s commitment to providing quality teaching conditions, contributing to the future of children in the region.
Integrated view of the territory
The budget reflects an integrated approach to territorial development, promoting not only great works, but also decisive actions that aim to balance living conditions in all areas of the municipality:
Improvement of the road network
An important investment in the requalification of the road network stands out, including roads such as Saraiva and Conceição, streets in Garvão and urban rehabilitation in Ourique. These interventions reinforce accessibility and connectivity in rural areas.
Commitment to sustainability
The investment in projects such as the Municipal Climate Action Plan and solid waste and sanitation management demonstrates a growing concern with environmental sustainability. The budget reserves funds for animal sterilization campaigns, acquisition of equipment and cleaning of streams. These actions show attention to public health issues and the relationship with the environment.
Commitment to the future
This budget consolidates the vision of Ourique as a municipality committed to people, territory and financial sustainability.
With the approval of the proposal at a Chamber meeting, the document now goes to the Municipal Assembly, where it will be decided in a final vote. The strategy for 2025 positions Ourique as an example of balanced development, focused on the needs of the population and taking advantage of opportunities to grow as a reference territory.
