The Municipality of Ourique was awarded with the project “Educating through Art – Alentejano Singing Workshop”, in the education category, within the scope of the “Social City” program.
This award is another proof of the recognition of the municipality's commitment to preserve and promote the Alentejo Song and its cultural heritage.
The distinction is promoted by the digital platform Cidade Social. The initiative aims to make information and public recognition of good practices implemented by the Portuguese municipalities, in order to increase their intervention value in the areas of sport, Youth, Education and Social.
The award was awarded in the context of the Project Educar Project for Art - Cante Alentejano Workshop -, an innovative initiative that is part of Song in schools in the municipality of Ourique, reinforcing the connection of the new generations to the Alentejo culture.
The delivery ceremony took place this Wednesday, 25 of September, During the II Social City Congress, in Santa Maria da Feira.
This award highlights Ourique's commitment to the valorization of its traditions and in the strengthening of local identity, ensuring that the living culture of the Alentejo continues to be transmitted and celebrated.
Ourique will continue to reinforce investment in education policies, namely in the reinforcement of education for art, with the continuity of the teaching of the Alentejo Singing in schools, continuing the motto to realize municipal policies centered on people, in their needs and in the realization of responses that qualify our community dynamics.
The municipality thanks all who collaborated in this project and reaffirms his dedication to preserving the cultural and educational heritage of Ourique, honoring the past and preparing the future.
