Ovibeja: Organization believes it will be one of the biggest ever.


The 39th Ovibeja will open its doors to the public next Thursday, day 27 April. The organization expects this to be one of the biggest fairs in recent years.

as a novelty, and after much deliberation, is the fact that government officials were not invited. All deputies and all political parties were invited, in addition to many other personalities representing the various sectors of activity in the country, in addition to ambassadors from the most diverse nationalities.

The inaugural session of the 39th Ovibeja, chaired by Paulo Arsénio, Mayor of Beja, is scheduled for 10:30 am, do dia 27 April, in the ACOS Auditorium. This first day of the fair will have free access, until 20h00, (as a result of a partnership between ACOS and the Municipality) for those who want to visit the event.

The fair will have the presence of more exhibitors spread across indoor and outdoor spaces and also has a wider range of initiatives for the different visiting publics.. During every day there will be very diversified cultural manifestations, regional music, cante, dance, tests with dogs, try the national horse ball championships, and national work riding and national jumping contest. On the Avenue Stage, in the outdoor amphitheater and in the CIMBAL space (at the Cante Pavilion) musical initiatives will take place every day, since acting, on the first day, by the Brass Quintet & Percussion by the PSP Symphonic Band, Capoeira, Tuna performance from the Senior University, performance of choral and regional groups. There are many activities scheduled for the Learning Space +, in the Central Pavilion, aimed at the youngest. Also in the Livestock Pavilion there will be shearing demonstrations and other activities for the general public.. In addition to the initiatives under the responsibility of the organization of the fair, there are many events that will take place on the initiative of exhibitors in the various pavilions. On Saturday, day 29, there will be a meeting of Cante Alentejano, as has been customary in previous years, with the participation of several hundred singers from greater Lisbon. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with Casa do Alentejo as part of the celebrations of its 100 year old. This year, travel is done by bus., with the support of the Regional Entity of Tourism of Alentejo and Ribatejo and lunch will be offered by the Chamber of Beja. A note also for the many colloquia on the most diversified areas that will take place during all the days of the fair.

Also in greater numbers and with greater variety are spaces dedicated to gastronomy.. From certified meat restaurants, to exhibitors of agri-food products, taverns and street food, with outdoor terrace areas. One of the novelties this year is a Restaurant under the responsibility of the organization dedicated to the promotion of recipes based on lamb meat. “Solar da Campaniça†promotes and disseminates the flavors of lamb raised in extensive.

To better accommodate the thousands of visitors who regularly come to Ovibeja, the Organization created another car park with capacity for around five hundred vehicles, in the old Campo de Jogos Flávio dos Santos, close to the Camping Park and Ovibeja. The park is paid, like the main park of Ovibeja.
