A man, of 62 year old, died in the early hours of Wednesday following a fire that broke out in his home in the town of Panóias, municipality of Ourique, having been extinguished approximately two hours after the flames consumed the house.
The alert for the fire was given at 01:44 and it was declared over at 03:46, the victim's body was removed from the rubble almost two hours after the flames were extinguished.
JN, the commander of the Volunteer Fire Department Ourique, Mario Batista, revealed that “the fire completely destroyed a bedroom and the hallway of the house, having the roof collapsed. The man lived alone, was found under the rubble and the body was completely charred.”, adding that the causes of the fire “are being investigated by the police authorities”, finished.
The victim's corpse was transported to the Beja Legal Medical Office where it will be autopsied.
In view of the rapid action of the Ourique Firefighters, who made them move to the location 14 operational supported by five vehicles, the flames did not spread to other neighboring homes.
