Futsal coach and employee of the Salesians of Évora in preventive detention for pornography of minors. Joins João Paulo Silva at the Prison Establishment of Beja, condenado a 9 years in prison, the same offense.
Was in custody the individual, of 53 year old, who had been arrested yesterday by the Local Criminal Investigation Unit (STREETS) Évora of the Judicial Police (PJ), being charged with the crimes of child pornography and sexual harassment of minors.
Last day 25 Feb., Luis Casanova, educational assistant and futsal coach of the Colégio dos Salesianos training teams, important institution of the Alentejo city, was the subject of a search by ULIC inspectors, having been constituted a defendant and suspended from office by the school.
Despite these measures, the man remained very active on social media, which led the Police to send new data to the Criminal Investigation and Action Department (DIAP) Évora, process holder, having the Public Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant out of flagrante delicto.
Married and father of an adult girl, the individual was described by the PJ as a “great frequenter of several platforms on the internet, taking advantage of the proximity, for the exercise of the profession”, to ask victims to send intimate photographs and videos.
In addition to the functions in the Salesians, Luís Casanova was an occasional waiter at the Parque dos Leitões Restaurant”, in Évora and on his facebook page he appeared dressed as a priest, there is someone who guarantees that he was a deacon in that institution. On the last day of last year, next to the statue of Saint John Bosco, the patron saint of the Salesians, wrote “inspires me in my daily life, in my mission as an educator in the Salesian house”, leaving a thank you to the young people “for everything they have given me”, concluded.
The defendant's behavior never aroused suspicion and on social media he left messages that did not lead to the assumption that behind this individual "educator and friend of children" was a sexual predator., as shown in the message he left three days before he was the target of the PJ's first action: “Before harming others, remember…the law of return does not fail and the consequences can be severe”.
No criminal record, Luis Casanova, was only yesterday present in court where he was subjected to the first judicial interrogation, having been enacted coercion measure of remand, entering the Beja Prison at 17,00 hours.
Coach sentenced to 9 years in prison for child pornography
The Panel of Judges of the Court of Beja condemned last day 15 March, a football coach from the formation layers to a feather 9 years in prison, in legal height, for six crimes of child pornography, two of which aggravated, and one of child sexual abuse.
João Paulo Silva, of 51 year old, who has been in preventive detention at the Beja Prison since 11 May 2021, was also sentenced to an accessory penalty of banning the exercise of functions that involve regular contact with minors, for a period of 15 year old.
The defendant was accused of 12.248 under pornography crimes, 7 of which aggravated and 6 crimes of sexual abuse of children, considering the CJ that some were continued and others were remittances of pornographic content from one mobile phone to another, both possessed by the defendant.
