Purple: Alentejo Public water will invest 3,8 million.


A AgdA – Alentejo Public Water, S. A., will proceed with the refurbishment of ETA – Purple Water Treatment Plant, as well as to the improvement of the treatment line with the inclusion of additional steps.

According to the publication in the Official Gazette, No announcement procedure 37/2018 of 4 January 2018, interventions represent an investment of 3 million and 800 thousand euros.

The intervention in ETA aims to improve the treatment process of drinking water in the municipalities of Beja and Aljustrel, taking into account the changes of water quality at the source (Purple reservoir) that have occurred in recent years.

Changes to the space including through the installation of two new steps, allow improved effectiveness in the oxidation of organic matter and absorption of odors and undesirable tastes.

Having these situations affected the municipalities of Beja and Aljustrel in 2015, in altura, the authorities claimed to agda urgent intervention in the rehabilitation of Purple ETA and the correction of the capture process and water treatment. As an interim measure, the company chose to proceed to capture further from the shore water.
