Santa Clara-a-Velha (Odemira): It is one of the finalists in the category of Riparian Villages.
Santa Clara-a-Velha, in Odemira, e Dornes, are the two finalists in the category “Riparian villages” passing the final voting phase, the election of 7 Wonders of Portugal®.
Voting in 49 villages in the competition began on Sunday in Santa Clara-a-Velha, in Odemira. In this first Gala were voting 7 riverside villages: Light Village, Dornes, Escaroupim, Furnas, Santa Clara-a-Velha, Seven cities and Vilarinho de Negroes.
The election of 7 Wonders of Portugal® - Villages are organized into 7 Galas playoffs by category and 49 contest the villages are voted on only during the Galas, to make every Sunday in July and August, from 21h and for about 2 hours. In each Gala are cleared two finalists, passing the final voting phase (of 27 de agosto a 3 of September).
The following is the 16 July the Rural Villages and the 23 July Villages Sea. The Remote Villages are voted the 30 July and the Authentic Villages 6 August. A 13 August Villages Monument are voted on and 20 August Villages in Protected Areas.
A 27 August begins a week of voting, until the following Sunday. As 7 They are known elected 3 of September, no Piódão, Official Statement of the 7 Wonders of Portugal® - Villages.
FINALISTS - VILLAGES RIPARIAN
CLARA-A-OLD SANTA: Grown along the fertile lands of the River Mira valley, this white village and florida, around the Santa Clara de Assis Church (checks. XVI). A ponte D. DORNES: It is located in a spur of the lake of Castelo de Bode, the river Zêzere. The village already existed in century. XII, having been the Templars, passing these to the Commendation of the Order of Christ. D. Manuel I granted it a charter in 1513, and was the county seat until 1836. Its heritage stand out: the Church of Our Lady of Tears, which was founded by Queen Santa Isabel in 1285, e a misteriosa Torre de Dornes, the first pentagonal tower Templar in Portugal, built by this Order at the beginning of the century. The candidates 7 Portugal® wonders - Villages are organized into 7 categories and 7 winners will be determined by the highest number of votes, one per category, It can be elected not more than three villages by region.
The categories are: Villages-Monument; Sea villages; Riparian villages; Rural villages; Remote villages; Authentic villages; and Villages Protected Areas.
The entire election process of 7 Portugal® wonders - Villages will be audited by international auditors firm PwC.
