Santana de Cambas / Mértola: Christmas nativity scene “garbage do art”.
António Costa, Artist Natural Moreanes, presents 1 of the December 6 January, its traditional Christmas crib “I do Trash Art”, in collaboration with the Chamber of Mértola and the Parish Council and Santana People's House Cambas.
After last year have exposed the work in the old Hall of the Volunteer Fire Department Mértola, António Costa returns to the ballroom of Santana People's House Cambas, which had already shown in the crib 2007. The first edition took place in 2006 and had exhibited at the Primary School in Moreanes 2016.
António Costa has at its disposal a larger space, which also enabled him to, further, your imagination and ingenuity. On display will be 46 life-size sculptures, from the holy family to many other characters and animals.
In addition to performing all the figures and scenery with recyclable materials, and tissue, paper and ceramic objects, the artist recycles appliances engines to give life to their characters. The artist says that "this is a way to show people that what is old and has no utility can be used to do a magnificent job".
The desire to build the most iconic scene Christmas follows the artist from childhood in thought, but it was revived in 2001 year in which, on the journey of young people of the Municipality of Mértola the city of Rome, He visited the Vatican and saw a nativity scene that never came out of the head.
The crib will be on display in the ballroom of Santana People's House Cambas, Free entry and the crib can be visited every day, between 1 December and 6 January, from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 19:00.
