In order to enhance and preserve the Viola Portuguese Wire, will take place in days 4 and 5 November 2023, Sao Martinho das Amoreiras, county of Odemira, the IX Meeting of Wire Violas and the VI Meeting of Campaniça Viola Players.
The initiative is organized by the Viola Campaniça and Cante de Improviso Valorization Center, and which will once again feature the participation of players and violas from across the continent and Brazil.
Musical moments, Workshops and debates will be highlighted throughout the two days. The activities take place between Casa do Povo, Taberna do Lagar and Party Hall in São Martinho das Amoreiras.
On the first day of this event, day 4 November, by 15.00 hours there will be a round table dedicated to Wire Guitars and Players, with the participation of musicians Pedro Mestre, Carlos Loução, José Bento, David Pereira, José Barros, Ricardo Fonseca, Fernando Deghi, Eduardo Costa and Hélio Monteiro. A partir das 16.00 hours, Viola Workshops will be held (Campaniça, border, Braguesa, Caipira and Amarantina), followed by a Singing Workshop with Ana Tomás. To complete the Saturday program, there will be a show with Cante de Despique and Baldão, the activities of the Campaniça Viola Valorization Center Group and the Cante de Improviso and Violas Encantadas, scheduled for 21.00 hours.
On 5 November highlights a Round Table alluding to Viola Campaniça, scheduled for the 14.30 hours, with the participation of invited researchers, namely Manuel Morais (Musicologist and Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Évora), Domingos Morais (Teacher / ethnomusicologist the IELT - Institute of Traditional Literature Studies at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa) and Carlos Balbino (PhD student in Ethnomusicology), followed by a Circle and Campaniça Viola Players. The Meeting ends at 17.30 hours, with Concert with Cante de Despique and Baldão, Purple Amarantine, Campaniça Trio and Ao Canto da Beira.
During the two days there will be a Chordophone Exhibition, where you can get to know Viola Campaniça a little better.
