“A hand full of nothing”, This was how the mayors left the meeting with the ULSBA Board of Directors. They now want to meet with the Minister of Health.
“We didn't have high expectations, because beforehand we had a meeting with the person responsible for the Health Center”, This is what Antônio José Brito defined, Mayor of Castro Verde, the way it happened this morning, the meeting with the Board of Directors of the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA), on the functioning of the Basic Emergency Service (SUB) that Alentejo town.
The meeting took place at the request, of the presidents of the Chambers of Castro Verde, Aljustrel, Almodovar, Mértola and Ourique, whose populations are served by the Castro Verde SUB in the face of “the successive closure, for periods of 12 hours, at least six days during the month of November, situation that is linked to the absence of doctors to complete the shift rosters”, reminded the mayor.
When Lidador News, António José Brito revealed that “we are going to ask for a meeting with the Minister of Health. This case needs to be resolved urgently.”, adding that “the municipalities help and give everything and the Government gives us a handful of nothing”, justified.
“It’s a complex problem. We are being confronted in the last eight months with issues that we have not had in the last eight years. We are struggling with structural problems and political responsibility is necessary”, acusou or aedile.
In the name of the five socialist mayors, Antonio José Brito goes further and leaves the accusation: “promised to solve the problems in 60 days, but, in addition to not resolving them, they also aggravated them. With the previous director of the National Health Service, situations were overcome, nothing can be resolved with this”, finished.
Last Friday, due to lack of doctors, the Castro Verde SUB was closed between 08,00 and 20,00 hours, and next Friday it will be closed for twelve hours. Alternatively, ULSBA reminds and guides patients, that the SNS Line 24 is available.
