The mayors of the five Municipalities served by the Basic Emergency Service (SUB) de Castro Verde requested an urgent meeting with the president of the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA).
Considering that the responses at the Castro Verde SUB “have gone through a period of frank instability and, in what is known, This very complex situation will worsen during the months of November and December”, the presidents of the Municipalities of Aljustrel, Almodovar, Castro Verde, Mértola and Ourique, requested an urgent meeting from the president of ULSBA.
The mayors maintain that despite “our efforts to hire doctors and support the proper functioning of services, we are being faced with a very serious problem, which we do not conform to because, of course, It affects the populations of these municipalities in a very negative way.”, justify.
Carlos Teles, Antonio Boot, Antonio José de Brito, Mário Tomé and Marcelo Guerreiro asked José Carlos Guimarães for “a joint meeting with the ULSBA administration so that it is possible to assess the situation” and jointly define a strategy to “overcome this very complex problem that greatly affects the populations of this region”, conclude that they are awaiting a quick response from the person responsible for the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit.
It is recalled that in a statement the Municipality of Castro Verde considers that the closure of the Health Center's Basic Emergency Service is “an unexpected and absolutely abnormal situation”.
Castro Verde City Council became aware that the Basic Emergency Service (SUB) of the Castro Verde Health Center is expected to close, successively, for periods of 12 hours, at least six days during the month of November and, on 15, there is even the possibility of closure during 24 hours.
