The Board of Directors of the Local Unit of Health of Alentejo (ULSBA) and the Vidigueira City Council revealed that, for safety and quality reasons for health care, Selmes health care activity has been temporarily suspended since the past day 15 May 2025.
The suspension of the activity resulted from the realization that the structural and environmental conditions of extension did not allow the minimum health and safety standards required for health care practice. This situation was confirmed in a technical report of the local unit of the infections and resistance to antimicrobials prevention and control (Ulppcira).
However, cleaning and painting interventions were performed, With the effort of the Vidigueira City Council, and Collaboration of the Selmes Parish Council, that both entities recognize, but what, yet, did not allow the conditions necessary for the safety of care activity in the current space.
The ULSBA Board of Directors and the Vidigueira City Council are working together to ensure the rapid availability of new facilities to temporarily receive the health extension of Selmes until the rehabilitation of the current space. According to the available technical information, The process is ongoing, its conclusion is foreseen within a period of one to two months.
During this transient period, The provision of health care to users of the area of ​​influence of Selmes extension is fully secured at the headquarters of UCSP Vidigueira, where consultations are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning, by the same health team.
The ULSBA Board of Directors and the Vidigueira City Council reiterate their joint commitment to the quality and safety of health care provided to the Population of Selmes.
Under this commitment, is scheduled for today, day 11 June 2025, a meeting between the two entities, visiting, to evaluate the conditions of the current space and the proposed space to transit the health extension. On the same day, by 17h30, a public clarification session will be held directed to the population of Selmes.
