Serpa: Agreement between Chamber and EDP allows electrification of more houses in Serra.

will be turned on tomorrow, day 14 June, another phase of rural electrification in Zona da Neta – Pulo do Lobo in Serra de Serpa, at a time that will be marked by the 11.00 hours, with an official session, in the building of the former Primary School of Cabeceiras de Vale Queimado, with the participation of Tomé Pires, Mayor of Serpa, José Ferrari Careto, President of E-Redes, and Joaquim Falé, President of the Association of Residents of Neta and Pulo do Lobo.

The work now completed, result of a collaboration agreement signed in February 2019, between the Municipality of Serpa and EDP Distribuição (current E-Networks), had an investment of about 554 thousand euros, benefiting 25 isolated houses and farms in Zona da Neta – Pulo do Lobo. The investment was supported by E-REDES, former EDP Distribution, (85 percent), by the Serpa City Council and by the residents covered (15 percent).

The completion of the electrification project involved the construction of about nine kilometers of Medium Voltage overhead lines, as well as Low Voltage aerial networks and the installation of eight Transformer Posts, with a total installed power of 400 kVA.

Since the beginning of the electrification of Serra de Serpa, around 250 dwellings and farms, with the support of the Municipality of Serpa, and the electrification of Serra, to the Municipality, is synonymous with development of the county, since it allows people and companies to fix that territory.
