The Municipality of Serpa met with a delegation from the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA), to express to this entity its concerns regarding Covid 19.
They were present at the meeting, by the Tomé Pires municipality, Mayor of Serpa, Carlos Alves and Odete Borralho, aldermen, and by ULSBA, Conceição Margalha, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Iliete Ramos, coordinating health delegate.
As it is in the public domain, the municipality of Serpa has seen an increase in the number of cases of infection with the new Coronavirus, one of the concerns is the spread of the disease among the migrant community that works and lives in the municipality.
Monitoring the integration of these migrants has always been deficient, especially because there is no legislation that defines how they should be housed, There is no monitoring of labor legislation, which is often trampled upon, so at this time of the Covid pandemic 19, the municipality's concern is redoubled.
At the meeting with ULSBA, these concerns were conveyed, that are common to both entities. Availability for collaboration was also highlighted, although it was noted that health services are finite and that the pressure on the National Health Service at the moment is enormous, Therefore, prevention and the adoption of preventive behaviors are the way forward.
