The General Command of the GNR does not confirm the existence of the case disclosed on a social network, still sent the same to the Public Prosecutor's Office. No investigation into the case is known..
The complaint that there would be about two hundred Moldovans to be written, was made, no Twitter, by Catalin Schitco, university student of 20 year old, of Moldovan origin and residing in Portugal for over 18 year old.
“I was approached by a resident of a village in Serpa, grandmother of a close friend, who told me the story. He spoke to me because of the notoriety he knows I have here and in politics”, explained the young man to i, adding that the woman managed to communicate with an immigrant who knows Italian.
The Lidador News (LN) contacted the General Command of the GNR by email, who justified that “there is no record of complaints or occurrences related to the described, in the Serpa area”, adding that “Guarda was aware of a publication on a social network with facts identical to the question posed in the email, being the same object of submission to the Public Prosecutor’s Office”, completed the institution.
The university student who made the complaint, who attends the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Lisbon (ISCAL), adds that several Facebook groups, created by Moldovan citizens, reported similar situations in Alentejo.
“There are hundreds of them and they are in precarious conditions.. In that conversation he was told that workers do not receive fixed wages. The money is sent centrally to a person abroad who then redistributes it, without any kind of fixed or guaranteed periodicity”, brings out, clarifying that immigrants “make alternating shifts between various countries. Now they are in Portugal, now they move to other European countries”, “Italy was one of the examples given in the conversation”.
“A GNR, apparently, has been warned countless times with complaints that have never come to anything”, laments Catalin. For its part, the GNR ensures that “it has been particularly attentive to the situation of migrants and has carried out policing and inspection actions., intensified since January, with the aim of detecting possible situations of exploitation of workers, as well as other phenomena associated, in order to guarantee the greatest possible protection to migrants who are in the district of Beja developing their work activity or residing in it”, finished.
