Serpa: Alentejo Cheese Fair 2024.


In the days 23, 24 and 25 The 23rd edition of the Alentejo Cheese Fair takes place in February, at the Serpa Fair and Exhibition Park, with free entry.

More than one hundred and sixty exhibitors will be present, between cheese producers, filled, mel, sweetmeats, handicraft, pubs, institutional stands of regional entities and sheep breeders.

Sixty cheese stands from across the country will be present in Serpa, including Serpa, Évora, Serra da Estrela, Beira Baixa and Manchego, artisanal sheep cheeses, goat, cow and mix, buttery, cream cheese, almece, frescos, cured, busy cured, with aromatic herbs, caramelized onion, tickets, Truffles, mel, Certified Organic Cheese, and also several cheeses awarded in international competitions.

Activities related to agriculture and pastoralism will take place throughout the Fair, namely sheep and goat cheese manufacturing workshops, Campaniça and Merina sheep shearing demonstrations, the Ile de France sheep competition, the regional contest of the Cão da Serra de Aires, herding dog workshop and demonstration and sheep exhibition.

There will also be a competition “The Best Cheese at the Alentejo Cheese Fairâ€, and the Serpa PDO Cheese tastings take place in Beja, in the Sensory Analysis Laboratory of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja – Escola Superior Agrária, on 22 Feb., and the competitions for the remaining categories take place at the Fair, on 23 Feb.. The results of the competition will be announced on the day 25 in the afternoon.

The competition aims to promote and publicize the best cheeses present at the Alentejo Cheese Fair, being open to all cheese producers present, in the Serpa DOP Cheese categories, long-ripened sheep's cheese (> 60 healing days), normal cured sheep's cheese (< 60 healing days), fresh goat cheese, cured goat cheese, atabafado ripened goat cheese, cow's cheese, cottage cheese and innovation.
