Serpa: GNR seized 6,5 tons of olives ready to be sold.


Seized in Serpa 6,5 tons of olives due to lack of quality control and hygiene conditions. They will be destroyed by order of the Public Ministry.

Military personnel from the Beja Territorial Command of the GNR assigned to the Territorial device, Criminal Investigation and Rapid Intervention, seized on Wednesday in the municipality of Serpa, 6,5 tons of olives packed in plastic drums, ready to be sold.

The product was seized due to the lack of quality control and hygiene conditions in which it was processed and stored, the Guard's action having identified a company and a man 45 year old, for possession of the olive. An administrative offense notice was drawn up, the value of which the fine can reach around 45 thousand euros.

According to a GNR source, “the company did not have any type of license to carry out a legal activity, and the conservation of the product was carried out without hygiene conditions”, adding that “as it was not possible to detect the owner of the olive to whom it was returned, By order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, it will be destroyed.”, concluded.
