The Municipality of Serpa, issued a statement stating that it has been following “with great concern the evolution of the situation” that is being lived in Santa Casa da Misericórdia..
At stake are the services provided in health care to the population of the municipality, namely those provided by Santa Casa da Misericórdia, either as the managing entity of Hospital de São Paulo, but also as manager of the valence of continued care and of the Residential Structure for Elderly People.
The municipality maintains that the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Serpa “is one of the major employers in the city and county, and provides relevant services to our population”, ensuring that “having no intention of meddling in the management of the institution, within the competence of its own bodies”..
Serpa City Council believes it is important to “express our solidarity with the workers” of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Serpa.
The Municipality "calls on the institution's own bodies for a quick resolution of the situation" reiterating the city council's "availability in the search for solutions that safeguard the provision of continuity of the important services that are provided to the community", conclude.
