Serpa: Municipality promotes reception and integration of migrants.
The Municipality of Serpa, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Guadiana Route Association held, for the first time, Reception to the Migrant.
The Fair Pavilion and Serpa Exhibition, welcomed a time when the local authority intended to give another sign of closeness and support among the local community and the immigrants who settle in the county.
The program consisted various activities, including a gathering about the process of integration in the host society, in particular Serpa municipality, a culinary event of world cuisine, with made-up courses for immigrant, an action of dissemination and awareness of the new regulation of the Aliens Act, promoted by the SEF – Foreign Service and borders, and a cultural evening.
The event was attended by the Assistant Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, Isabel Oneto, who became aware of all the work that has been held in Serpa with this community, particularly in the Local Centers to Support Integration of Migrants, Serpa and Pias.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Serpa Municipality are partners in the Local Security Contract, which has as a priority intervention area for migratory flows to meet the local needs of agricultural labor, and its main objectives go through the prevention of human trafficking and illegal immigration, the adequacy of the working and living conditions of immigrants and the prevention of delinquency and crime phenomena.
