In the first six months of the year, there was an increase in the number of accidents in 15 of 18 districts, with greater expression in Beja (+20,4%), more 41 accidents, only surpassed by Bragança (+25,0%) and Castelo Branco (+20,9%).

With regard to the number of fatalities, the increases occurred in 10 districts, with the largest absolute increases in the districts of Porto and Setúbal (+17 and +7, respectively), followed by Beja with +5, which was equivalent to an increase in +41,7%.

Between January and June of this year, they registered 242 accidents, against 201 occurred during the same period of 2022, which means an increase in +20,4%. Regarding the number of fatalities, there is a record of +41,7%, and in that 2023 there was 17, against 12 last year.

Also at the level of injured, the increase is meaning, +43,8% the bass level and +29,3% we light. In the first case, there were 46 in 2023 and 32 in 2022, and in the second case 269 against 208.

No district Beja, Accidents with fatalities occurred in the following municipalities: Beja (4 dead), Odemira (3), Ourique, Almodovar and Moura (2 in each) and Mértola, Aljustrel, Vidigueira and Ferreira do Alentejo (1 in each)

21 January 2023, the most tragic accident: Collision on IP2 in Beja leaves two dead and five injured

A collision between five vehicles on the IP2 in Beja caused, two dead and five wounded, including four children. The accident occurred at kilometer 334,7 do IP2, in Beja, no sense Sul / Norte, and the alert was given to the authorities at 19.10 hours.

There are two confirmed deaths (two women) five wounded, of which four are children under the age of ten. The injured were transported to Beja Hospital. Children's injuries are considered minor.. According to found the Lidador News on site, four vehicles were circulating on the IP2 and collided with a van with a double cabin that had been parked on the side of the road since morning, due to breakdown.

Rescue operations mobilized a total of 24 operational and 12 Firefighters vehicles from Beja and Cuba, GNR e INEM.
