According to Radio Renaissance, the last four years, turnover pork row in Portugal performed well. The confirmation was made by the English Federation of Associations Pig farmers (FPAS). Forecasts national pork exports to China, the world's largest producer of this product, they point to 100 million this year, and 200 million in 2020.

Between 2015 and 2018, there was an increase 4% in the country's self-sufficiency values, while exports registered an increase of around 3%, which, according to FPAS, representing an increase of turnover in the sector, what, after a crisis, of 490 million euros achieved in 2015, He passed to the 507 million in 2018. in value, the pig grew about 17 million in that period.

In this context, and following the path of growth, the focus on export is fundamental, with China representing, according to the federation, "More than double the current exports to all active markets."

Now, in January 2020, passes a first expedition year, for China, of 270 tonnes of pork, worth one million euros. Ten containers came from the industrial facilities Maporal, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, passing through the port of Sines, and having as final destination the Chinese province of Hunan, with 73 millons of citizens.

An operation led by Agrupalto - Agricultural Producer Group, who bought the slaughterhouse Reguengos de Monsaraz to work, exclusively, for the Chinese market. An investment of four million euros, the joining six million to transform Maporal, until the end of 2020, the largest national cattle slaughter.

Currently 90 workers, when working in full the company will employ about 200 people, effecting up export expectations 15 thousand pigs (over tons) per week for the Chinese market. It is estimated that exports to China stand at around 16% of national production, this year, and 30% in 2020, representing about 200 million / year.
