An analysis of 23 year old research in neuroimaging found some results about the impact of technology on children's brains, both good and bad (although mostly bad).

The study revealed that prolonged use of screens causes changes in the prefrontal cortex of the brain, the part associated with several complex cognitive functions. Besides, detected effects in the temporal lobe, involved in several key functions such as auditory processing, the memory, language and aspects of visual perception.
The study also found detrimental effects on executive control, in inhibitory control, on cognitive functions and functional connectivity of the brain. And these are just a few negative examples…
But not everything was bad, as it has also been shown that digital experiences can improve the functioning of a child's brain.
For example, a greater capacity for concentration and learning was discovered in the frontal lobe of the brain of some users of digital devices, while children's executive functions and cognitive abilities can be improved through playing video games.
