Between the 3.050 companies that have a presence in Lisbon, artificial intelligence (HE) appears as the most represented industry, an increase of 16% of the presence.
The focus of most recent edition of the Web Summit 2024 It was Artificial Intelligence (HE) and, during the opening of the event, the prime minister announced a large language model (LLM) in Portuguese.
LuÃs Montenegro assumed that this great language model will be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
The idea will involve innovating in Portuguese, “preserving our language and using our culture at the service of innovation”, while reducing the “serious risks” the “dependence on foreign LLM”.
This Portuguese LLM will be developed by a collaborative consortium of research centers linked to universities in Lisbon (Faculty of Science and Technology of Nova and Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon), in conjunction with the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Center for Responsible AI.
