The Executive Directorate of the National Health Service (DE-SNS) presented the plan for the next three months, in which the pediatric and gynecology and obstetrics emergencies will operate 24 about 24 hours during the first quarter of the year.
The plan for the provision of services published by DE-SNS foresees that the emergency services of pediatrics and gynecology and obstetrics of the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo/Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes in Beja will be operating uninterruptedly, seven days a week, during the first three months of the year.
They will be in operation by March 37 pediatric emergency services and 43 NHS gynecology and obstetrics emergency services, uninterruptedly.

The measures arise following the constraints caused by the lack of professionals that have made sense in the specialty's emergency services, due to the shortage of doctors in the area and after thousands of doctors refused to do more extra work in addition to their 150 annual hours required by law. which greatly affected the functioning of 2023.
