The Food Bank warehouse against hunger in Beja (BAB), was robbed in the early hours of this Monday, all the olive oil on site having been stolen, no value 5.000 euros.
The warning was given about the 08,50 hours, when the institution's employee opened the main gate of the space, located on Rua da Lavoura, a cross street near the Railway Station, in Beja, and realized that the store was under attack and that the bottles of olive oil were missing.
The rear of the BAB space overlooks the railway lines, without any type of lighting, with several houses adjacent to the same.
Has learned the Lidador News (LN), the(s) author(is) of the theft, they broke down the gate at the back of the space, that does not yet have an alarm system installed, and took all the bottles of 2 and 3 liters of “Ouro Verde”, total no 600 l, which had been offered to BAB by companies in the municipality linked to the olive growing sector.
The Food Bank against hunger in Beja has been installed in that warehouse since mid-December last, thanks to a command contract with the Baixo Alentejo Intermunicipal Community (CIMB), who bought it for 250.000 euros, to a city company, and transferred it to BAB, in order to prevent it from closing doors, one that the Collect and Give Association and coordinator of the Food Bank, did not have the monetary resources to support the monthly income of 400 EUR / month, who paid for the previous warehouse.
CIMBAL will invest more 50 thousand euros so that the association can equip itself with a cold room, essential to preserve certain collected foods that require refrigeration.
Agents from the Criminal Investigation Squadron of the Beja District Command were called to the scene, having collected evidence to identify who committed the theft.
