Beja: Collision between van and motorcycle causes serious injury.


Motorcycle rider in very serious condition following a collision with a light goods vehicle, occurred at the intersection of IP2, at the northern entrance to the city of Beja.

A man, about 40 year old, motorcycle rider, suffered very serious injuries and was transported to the city hospital, in critical condition, following the collision of a light goods vehicle with the motorcycle that the victim was driving, this Tuesday morning, on IP2 at the northern entrance of Beja.

The accident occurred at about 08,25 hours when the pickup truck was heading north/south, turned left to enter Beja collided with the motorcycle driven by Kevin R, who followed in the opposite direction. To turn left and enter the city, vehicles that appear in this lane, has signs of “priority road approach”, while the opposite route is a long straight up to the Air Force roundabout, which gives access to Lisbon/Évora/Spain.

With the impact the conductor was projected to the ground separator that divides the place, while the motorcycle caught fire, having burned completely. The motorcycle trunk was the cause for approx. 20 meters ahead of the crash site.

During approximately half an hour of operation of the medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) and the Beja Fire Department (BVB) stabilized the motorcycle driver and then transported him to the Emergency Department of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja

Traffic in the lane where the accident occurred was closed to car traffic for an hour, the vehicles being diverted to the urban hull of the city, with the drivers inveterating the direction of the mark in the roundabout of the cemetery, to return to IP2.

On site were 30 BVB operational, VMER, GNR e PSP.
