Beja: GNR suspended the search to find the missing man in Baleizão.


The Territorial Command Beja (CTBeja) of the GNR decided, yesterday evening, suspend searches to find António Taniça, the agricultural worker, of 49 year old, missing since Saturday afternoon, in Baleizão, county Beja.

The information was confirmed to Lidador Notícias (LN) by source from CTBeja Public Relations.

Resident in Monte das Marianas, in that Alentejo parish, was last seen on Saturday afternoon in a cafe in the village of Baleizão. Having a family member of the man on Sunday, alerted the GNR, which went to the field in search of a clue that could lead to the discovery of the missing person.

Next to a pond in the parish of Baleizão, on the right bank of the River Guadiana, a short distance from the old road-rail crossing and the stop, the military found the motorcycle on which the individual was traveling. Traces of blood were also discovered at the scene and it is unknown whether they came from the man..

On Monday the searches focused on the interior of the water mirror, which was completely defeated by divers from the Moura and Serpa firefighters and operatives from the Beja corporation, specialists in finding through fatechas, cast from the shores, the body and no remains that led to its finding were found.

Yesterday, more than three dozen operatives from different areas of the Republican National Guard (GNR) and three fire brigades, searched for António Taniça's trail with land and air means.

In total they were involved 34 supported by operating 15 vehicles and include GNR soldiers, of the Territorial Detachment and Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) Beja, binomials of the Cinotécnico Intervention Group (GIC) Intervention Unit, an unmanned aerial systems team (EUAS), usually drones, of the Emergency Protection and Relief Unit. On the part of the firefighters, Beja corporations were operational, Cuba and Vidigueira supported by four-wheel motorbikes and a team of drones from the Special Fire Force (FEB).

In addition to the motor vehicle, the GNR did not find any other loot belonging to António Taniça, that could lead to the discovery of the missing person, dead or alive, having decided to cease the searches, despite the Guard's investigation having worked with all scenarios, including the crime of homicide.

In the village of Baleizão, doubts are growing about what could have happened to the man, described as a hardworking and very peaceful person.
