Manuel Santos, the confessed murderer of his friend Francisco Ferro, was on Friday afternoon sentenced to 14 years in prison for the crime of simple homicide. The two children will receive 110 thousand euros in compensation.
“Blé Açorda” as it is known, of 59 year old, was acquitted of aggravated homicide and possession of a prohibited weapon, having the Collective of Judges “followed” the proposal of the Public Prosecutor regarding the qualification of the homicide and sentenced the defendant to the penalty of 14 year old, two of the maximum limit provided for in the type of crime.
The children asked 105 thousand euros in compensation each, ending up the presiding judge, Ana Batista, unassigned 110 thousand euros in total. The defendant will remain in preventive detention awaiting the final judgment of the judgment.
The crime occurred at about 13,30 horas do dia 26 May last year, at the defendant's house, in Beja, the victim was hit with six stabs in the chest and abdomen area, that punctured his lung and diaphragm on the right side and caused his death. Then he left home and surrendered to the PSP Police Station in the city, where he confessed to the crime.
