The young man arrested today by the Judiciary Police and present in court for the first interrogation was remanded in preventive detention.. He is charged with the crime of attempted murder.
In a statement the Judiciary Police, through South Board, states that he located and detained, on this day, in Beja, a man, of 19 year old, suspect of attempted murder, using a firearm, occurred in the early hours of last day 6 of September, in that city.
The events occurred on a public street, following an altercation between rival groups near a nightlife establishment, in the context of a car chase, accompanied by gunshots, targeting the occupants of one of the vehicles, which resulted in no injuries.
Following searches carried out at the suspect's home, narcotic product and money were seized, presumably originating from illicit activity.
The detainee, with criminal records, was presented to the judicial authority for interrogation and preventive detention was applied as a measure of coercion, having been taken to the Beja Prison where he will await trial.
The direction of the investigation is in charge of the Public Ministry in Beja. The investigation continues under the responsibility of the Judicial Police, aiming at full clarification of the facts.
