Beja: Tornado causes trees to fall. No injuries.


It was a night of intense activity for the Firefighters and Police of Beja following a tornado that hit the city of Beja this morning, whose peak intensity was recorded around 05,30 hours.

The strong wind that was felt uprooted about a dozen large trees, on several city streets, but what

“did not cause damage to vehicles and there are no reports of any injuries”, Lidador told the News, Pedro Santos, Deputy Command of the Volunteer Firefighters of Beja (BVB).

At the beginning of the night the wind started to blow more intensely around midnight and from 02,30 hours the BVB and the PSP received the first alerts.

One of the occurrences that could have been fatal for the residents of the dwellings, took place next to the castle, in which a cedar with more than 10 meters high fell close to them, causing a great uproar with those people.

The Municipal Civil Protection and Cleaning Services of the Municipality of Beja are already on the ground cleaning the affected arteries, removing branches and trunks from fallen trees.
