The new protocol provides for the passage of the annual subsidy to be attributed to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Beja (AHBVB) of 120 thousand to 220 thousand euros.
Approval was given to the proposal for a draft cooperation protocol to be signed between the Municipality of Beja and the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Beja to be submitted to the next Municipal Assembly, where socialists don't have a majority, which is composed of 16 PS municipal deputies, 13 from CDU managed 13 and 4 of the coalition “Beja Can.
The document was approved with the favorable votes of the two councilors of the PS, since the mayor was absent, and the alderman of the “Beja Consegue” coalition and three abstentions from the CDU councilors, who advocated that the value to be attributed was 120.000 euros, increased 10 thousand euros/month, which would mean that the total amount would be 240 thousand euros.
At the executive meeting, chaired by the vice-president of the City Hall, Rui Marreiros, this justified that "the 220 thousand euros include all occasional support and others, including the payment of the Permanent Group of Firefighters (GPB), plus the payment of the two Permanent Intervention Teams (EIP)", concluded.
It should be recalled that in an interview given last December by the mayor of, Lidador NotĂcias “the regular annual subsidy of 2022 it was 120.000 euros”, justifying Paulo ArsĂ©nio that “we will take the support to 2023 to one of the meetings of the City Council of the month of January”, what happened this thursday. In that interview, the mayor revealed that the two Permanent Intervention Teams (EIP) cost 80.000 EUR / year.
Remember that the direction of the AHBVB, led there is 30 years by Rodeia Machado, tendered his resignation in 4 October, act in which he received the solidarity of the Board of the General Assembly and the Supervisory Board, who also resigned, having reversed this resignation in an Extraordinary General Meeting and returned to active duty.

The AMB is made up of a total of 33 elected, being that PS elected 16 municipal deputies, the CDU managed 13 and the PSD/Coalition obtained 4. The Board of the Municipal Assembly was constituted by consensus of the three political forces, being that Conceicao Casanova (PS) is the president, Anthony Barahona (CDU) the first secretary and Manuel Covas Lima (“Beja Can”) the second secretary.
