Four operational, all wage earners, of the Fire Departments of Aljustrel and Serpa had negative tests to covid-19, according to information transmitted on Friday morning by health authorities, at the controls of the respective corporations.
These elements join the twelve firefighters, eleven wage earners and a volunteer, of the Beja and MĂ©rtola Bodies that yesterday were informed of the negative results of covid-19.
Has learned the Lidador News (LN), the operational staff of these two corporations returned to service today, while the four from Aljustrel and Serpa will do it tomorrow. Firefighters source had already stated that “the results remove a tremendous negative charge from these corporations. If a positive case emerged, it could mean closing the barracks ”, summed up our source.
The case was triggered at the end of last week when a doctor, that among other functions, provides service in the emergency medical vehicle and resuscitation (VMER) Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja, tested positive for covid-19 tests. The clinician also provides services at the Cascais Hospital and the INEM helicopter stationed in Évora.
In addition to the 16 firefighters, three nurses are also placed in isolation, two from Beja Hospital that work at VMER and one from a home in Serpa and elements from the helicopter of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) based in Évora, whose number has not been released.
When asked about the situation, the INEM Press Office justified that although VMER is from the Institute “the doctor was hired by the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA)", adding that in relation to the INEM helicopter, the clinician's last service was the 3 August “and all the people who had contact with him were identified, are at home and being monitored by INEM, being asymptomatic ”, remataram.
For its part, ULSBA, revealed that he had no statement to make “since all protocols were triggered by the competent authorities that detected the case, as well as the respective measures foreseen for this purpose ”, concluded.
It remains to be seen when the three nurses and members of the INEM helicopter team based in Évora and, if the doctor has already been subjected to new tests for covid-19 screening.
