There 31 infected with covid-19 at the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mértola Home, one of the patients is admitted to the Beja Hospital. In total, 20 users and 11 employees of the Residential Structure for Elderly People (ERPI). In total the municipality has 41 active cases of covid-19.
Confirmation was made to Lidador Notícias (LN) by the city councilor of Mértola, Mário Tomé the person responsible for Civil Protection in the Municipality who justified that “yesterday 23,00 hours the tests done on Saturday were known and the result was devastating ”, justified. The mayor added that “starting tomorrow, a support structure will be set up at the Sports Pavilion (na photos) and on Wednesday we hope to have transferred all the infected people from the home ”, finished.
According to a publication of Santa Casa da Misericórdia on social networks, “The first case was detected in an ERPI user, following a visit to the Beja Hospital, finding the same boarding school ”, concluded.
The councilor of the Mertolense autarchy justified that “random tests were carried out and four employees tested positive. On Saturday we tested all users and employees and resulted in three dozen cases ”, summarized Mário Tomé.
Vidigueira and Beja worrying situations

ULSBA data reveal that in its area of operation, except Odemira, there have been 70 new cases, that generated the number of 456 active cases, in total 1739 since the beginning of the pandemic in March, now being 22 patients admitted to the covid ward and 2 at the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja. In the total number of deaths, there is 51 killed by covid-19, 22 of which in Beja and 14 Serpa.
