One dead and two injured in a passenger car accident. The victims are Romanian agricultural workers.
A dead, of 44 year old, one seriously injured, of 43 years and a slight, of 33 year old, who refused to be watched, was the result of the detection of a light passenger car that occurred in the early afternoon of this Monday, next to Cuba. Those involved are agricultural workers of Romanian nationality, residents in the Alentejo village.
The accident occurred at 12,50 hours, at km 2 State highway 258-1, in the north / south direction, near the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Presas, when the vehicle travels from Vila Ruiva to Cuba.
According to a witness who arrived at the scene shortly after the accident “after describing a curve, the vehicle hit a concrete pier and went to the ditch and took a turn in the end, turning in the opposite direction to what was going on”, adding our interlocutor that “the hanger was designed by the windshield glass, having fallen inside the valet. A third occupant was stretched out in the back seat and the driver, the youngest of all, out of the car without visible injuries ”, justified.
Given the severity of the wound that was projected, the INEM-Sul helicopter based in Évora was activated, that landed, but given that the man died and because the medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) Beja Hospital had been triggered for another occurrence away from the accident site, it was the medical crew of the aircraft that confirmed the death and assisted the seriously injured, who was later transported by ambulance to this hospital. The driver, who left the vehicle by his own foot, refused any assistance. The choir of the deadly victim was transported to the Legal Medical Office of Beja, where it will be autopsied.
On site were 20 operational bodies of the Fire Departments of Cuba and Alvito and GNR, supported by 6 vehicles and the helicopter INEM.
A EN 258-1 that links Cuba to Évora, via Alvito and Viana do Alentejo, has been closed, in both directions, to car traffic since emergency means arrived at the accident site.
