In inspection actions within the scope of the ongoing olive campaign, military personnel from the Beja Territorial Command of the GNR detained 18 people in the municipalities of Beja and Aljustrel, having still recovered 1.900 kilos of olives stolen and seized 2.389 euros in ECB notes and 7 Car.
The 6 detainees in the municipality of Aljustrel will be presented this Thursday to a Criminal Investigation Judge (JIC) at the Court of Ourique, while the 12 detainees in the municipality of Beja were notified to appear on this same day at the Court of this city.
Since the start of the Olive Campaign 2022/2023, whose picking started the day before 15 October, have already been stolen 42.077 pounds, in 16 thefts in several olive groves in the municipalities of Beja, Moura and Aljustrel, arrested 80 people, including nine women, aged between 16 and 61 years, seized 26 Car, including a top-of-the-range BMW and 11 manual machines for harvesting olives from the ground.
Nine men were also identified and two were accused., these by receipt and seized 50 euros from the “transaction” of the olive stolen and received by the two individuals, more the 2.389 euros from the last operation in Beja and Aljustrel.
