Institute of Atmosphere: NOTICE … Prepare-se. There comes heat… very hot.


Beja can reach tomorrow 35 and on Thursday the 38 Celsius. Temperatures will rise by five degrees Celsius on Wednesday, according to forecasts of the Sea Portuguese Institute and the Atmosphere (IPMA), which put the Evora districts, Setúbal, Beja and Portalegre under yellow warning due to heat.

BEJA- calor_800x800Temperatures on Thursday, and according to the forecast IPMA, can reach 38 degrees Celsius in Beja, 36 Evora, 35 Portalegre and Castelo Branco, 34 in Santarém, 32 in Lisbon, Bragança and Vila Real.

Speaking to Lusa agency, meteorologist Ricardo Tavares, explained that, on Wednesday, the maximum temperature will rise especially in the interior of the Alentejo, with highs above 35 degrees.

“[Wednesday] There will be a small rise in temperatures, and the maximum will be an increase of 4 a 5 degrees, above 35 degrees inside the Alentejo, between 30 and 35 the Tagus Valley region, and North and Central inside above 30”, said Ricardo Tavares, to IPMA.

According to the meteorologist, High temperatures will remain on Wednesday and Thursday, although it is scheduled for Friday “a small drop in maximum, no more than two degrees”, wherein after “the tendency is to remain until the beginning of next week”.

Due to the increased maximum temperature, with persistently high values, the IPMA placed under the yellow warning Évora districts, Setúbal, Beja and Portalegre, Warning that will be in force between 09:00 Wednesday and 18:00 Thursday.

For meteorologist, the existence of yellow warnings due to the warm weather is already “normal at this time of the year”, adding that these are issued when there are “extreme situations”, since these are the maximum temperatures “that attain high values, but always a normal situation in June, July and August”.
