The driver of a City Council heavy goods vehicle died on Tuesday morning., following the vehicle that crashed into a cliff at the top of the Oeiras river, tributary of the Guadiana, in an artery in the old part of Mértola.

As the INEM helicopter returned to the Loulé base, the victim's body was taken to the Legal Medical Office of the Hospital de Beja where it will be autopsied, while awaiting the arrival of a heavy crane to remove the vehicle from the site.
At the crash site were 17 Operating Volunteer Fire Department Mértola, support vehicle immediately life (SIV) Castro Verde, GNR and the INEM helicopter.
